Mozart’s ‘Requiem’ at the Hollywood Bowl

On September 4, Christian Van Horn returns to the Hollywood Bowl, joining the Los Angeles Philharmonic for Mozart’s haunting Requiem. Van Horn joins a quartet of acclaimed soloists, including soprano Elena Villalón, mezzo-soprano Isabel Signoret, and tenor Joshua Blue. James Gaffigan leads the ensemble, with the Los Angeles Master Chorale acting as chorus.

The full concert is a meditation on life and death, with the first half featuring Ellen Reid’s Body Cosmic, an LA Phil commission that reflects on the experience of pregnancy, and Brahms’ Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny), a choral and symphonic poem that has been described as a “little Requiem.”
